Welcome back members of The Willow Community! Class is now in session. We have exciting new workshops to offer, and we’re bringing back some of our favourite artists. One big change this season is we are now able to offer one class a month in the evening. We hope this will allow new members to join. Intro to Lettering

Learn the craft of lettering and font design from local artist Cynthia DiSimone, experienced sign, logo and lettering expert. Have you ever imagined your name in lights? Cynthia will show you how to have FUN with FONTS and create your own personalized name brand!

Local artist Gord Whalen will be introducing the fundamentals of still life drawing. Putting pencil to paper, we will learn techniques, shapes, and proportions used for sketching what we see.

Sept 19, Oct 17, Nov 14 1-2:30pm
Rodman Hall Art Centre

Led by local yoga instructor Sarah Smith, learn the basic principles of meditation and gentle yoga poses. Can be adapted for all physical limitations. No experience necessary. Bring some water, a mat, and come in comfortable clothes. A few mats can be made available.

Draw Your Neighbour

Artist/educator Julia Blushak provides an inclusive opportunity to share ideas and feelings about community living. Come and draw, write, and be a part of a local narrative. When completed, this will be the world’s longest drawing by a community – at 1.5 Km, filled with ideas and feelings about community living.

Local Artist Patricia Laraia will take us through the process of breaking down our barriers in order to create. Drawing from her own art and healing practice, she will lead us toward creating our own mixed media collage piece through expressive art techniques.

Game On is a monthly gathering open to members and their families who like to play board games, eat snacks, create original artwork, have some fun, or simply engage in friendly conversation. Bring a snack to share. Coffee and tea is on us. Pizza and pop will be on sale so bring a toonie and come hungry!\

Theater student Ian Ball will help us create and navigate our own stories through theater! We will explore topical subjects with forum theater and get to know one another using theater games that have group dynamics as a focus

Have you ever considered capturing your creative works in book format? Whether you are a writer or visual artist, this workshop will teach you some simple and economical bookbinding techniques that can be repeated at home without any special equipment. Led by local artist Judith Rudoler.

Artist/Facilitator Mary Burke will lead the class in creating a unique acrylic painting. Each member will design a painting off of a small piece of famous artwork. The surprise will come at the end when we see how the creations are so different from the original!

Award winning local musician, songwriter and producer Joe Lapinski will lead us into a world of rhythm and blues. Snap, hum, sing, drum, and clap your way through this musical journey. Bring your instruments if you have something to play. Let’s jam and groove together.

Henna artist Shazia Khan will introduce us to the history and significance of Henna. We will be designing our own henna pieces with the chance to have it come to life on our skin. ***Spaces are limited. Please confirm your spot.

In this workshop artist/facilitator Mary Burke will help us reimagine and recreate the four seasons. Design, capture, and paint winter, summer, spring and fall onto flat stones.

Artist/Educator Julia Blushak will demonstrate how difficult things can be beautiful through the ancient art of Origami. This workshop will invite stories about transforming experiences as we learn to make beauty one fold at a time
